Woodwind Teacher | Abigail Heath | Derosa Music | Bishops Stortford | Hertfordshire
Woodwind teacher Abi began her woodwind lessons playing the clarinet at 7 years old, and, having played in orchestras ever since, in 2012 was awarded a scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2012. Having graduated in September 2016, she has just accepted a scholarship to continue her studies at the Guildhall, and is now studying for a postgraduate degree.
Having worked as a freelance clarinettist since moving to London, Abi has performed increasingly diverse and demanding repertoire, as well as large scale symphony orchestra and choral works, most recently in the Barbican Hall and the Royal Albert Hall. A keen chamber musician, she performs regularly with her wind quintet, and the Colbourne Trio. Abi also plays with folk band, The Mead Men, since their debut in 2015. She also performs as a freelance orchestral musician with various ensembles across the country, recently including the Janus ensembe, and with Vivo D’Arte, on a modern production of La Boheme.
Alongside her performing work, Abi teaches woodwind lessons across London and for Derosa. She also leads interactive workshops in prisons, schools for both able and special needs children, and with people struggling with homelessness. Her outreach work has taken her across the world, most recently spending months in both Brazil and India, and directing projects which work with children suffering from the Syria refugee crisis.
