Carluccio’s present; Opera at the Table

Carluccio’s presents an evening of Opera at the Table, good food, good wine, and good music!  On Wednesday 6th June 2018 at Carluccio’s in Bishop’s Stortford. Canapes and a glass of Prosecco, a 3-course Italian dinner, during your meal a selection of arias and show songs will be performed by our own opera singers.

Isabel Hospice Ware Choral Concert Requiem

Money for Nothing

Money for Nothing is Europe’s premier tribute to Dire Straits – They have performed all over the world, and have studied Dire Straits in great depth in order to be as close as possible to the real thing. Fronting the band is the brilliant guitarist and “Mark Knopfler sound-alike”, Aled Williams, and behind him, the line-up features top-class and experienced musicians.

Retune Presents: Vertaal

Vertaal (Ajit Gill and Theo Howarth) are a progressive jazz-funk duo, flirting with the sounds of hip-hop, electronic soul and all kinds of exotic melody. Taking influence from artists such as Yussef Kamaal, Haitus Kaiyote, Robert Glasper and Alfa Mist, their ‘on-the-fly’ live shows feature a host of guest players and improvised interpretations of original songs. Each show is a unique and energising musical experience.

Charlie Turner is a UK-based songwriter and captivating performer whose extensive catalogue spans a wide variety of genres. She has worked with Mercury-nominee Kathryn Williams and Ivor Novello and Grammy Award winner Chris Difford of Squeeze. More recently, she has formed writing partnerships with top UK songwriters such as Grammy Award winner Rob Davis, along with other hit writers Pam Sheyne and Tim Fraser. Charlie has written for pop artists from X Factor and The Voice, including Sam Lavery (X Factor Finalist, 2016). She has also had several of her latest works recorded in Nashville. Upcoming releases for 2018 include two singles with the Missing People Choir from ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent.

Emerging youngster Fionnuala Shakespeare will open the show.

The Gibberd Garden – Jazz Evening

Bernstein Symphonic Dances

Saffron Walden Symphony Orchestra and Saffron Walden Choral Society join forces in a concert showcasing the musical talent of the town’s two largest community music ensembles. The orchestra will play Bernstein’s ever-popular Symphony Dances from West Side Story and the choir will sing Tippett’s wonderful Spirituals. The second half of the concert is devoted to Walton’s spectacular oratorio Belshazzar’s Feast, chronicling the downfall of the blasphemous king. Featuring a baritone soloist and two off-stage brass bands this is surely a spectacle not to be missed!

Saffron Walden Museum Fete de la Musique

At Saffron Walden Museum on Saturday 24th June 12.00pm – 8pm. The 2018 Saffron Walden Fete de la Musique includes 77 music acts and over 500 musicians performing a huge range of musical genres from rock, pop, and jazz to folk, world, and light classical. Musicians performing at the festival come from a wide area including Saffron Walden, Cambridge, and Dunmow. This is a free event running from 12:00 to 20:30. The last event of the day is a boogie in the Market Square with the Reavey Bros. band. See website for full details or come along to the Museum.

St Michael’s Church Sunday Afternoon Concerts

Brookfest 2018

Brookfest 2018: after 2017’s inaugural event, Brookfest returns with a stellar line up of local talent. An annual one-day, charity, family-friendly music festival deep in the Hertfordshire countryside. Brookfest takes place at Brook Cottage Farm Riding School, Furneux Pelham on Saturday 30th June 2018. Gates open at 12.30pm with live music over two stages all day.  Uncle Funk and the Boogie Wonderland will be headling at 8.30pm.  Also appearing will be Indie and the Vegas, Jack the Lad, the 7T’s, Beans and Biscuits, Pharoah and the Beats and up and coming bands Riveria and Slap. There will be interactive tents including a  yoga/mindfulness area. dance, art and craft, food and drink stalls along with activities for the children.  Camping is available by prior arrangement and well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome. This is a non-profit event raising money for the riding school’s Riding for the Disabled (RDA) activities.
